Early Career
My Filmmaking journey starts when I was 11

In June 2016, I set out to make my second-ever short film, aiming to submit it to the short film contest at the Neyveli Book Fair. With my dad’s Fujifilm point-and-shoot camera in hand and a group of friends and family by my side, we turned an open field into our film set. The entire shoot wrapped up in just a few hours, and with a bit of help, I edited the film on my home computer. A few clicks later, it was officially submitted—one of my earliest steps into the magical world of filmmaking.

And I won Special Mention - Best Young Director award for my short film Vivasayee from Director Mr.Vasanthabalan.

In September that same year, I set out to make my next short film, this time for the Swachh Bharat Short Film Festival Competition organized by NFDC. With more friends on board, we shot the film on a DSLR, an upgrade from my dad’s point-and-shoot. John Vijay anna, one of my earliest mentors in filmmaking, came along to handle cinematography, and his friend Aravind anna joined as the associate on the film.

Unfortunately, this film didn’t win any accolades at that contest. So, we sent it to the Neyveli Book Fair Short Film Competition – 2017, and this time, it won the Juries’ Special Mention Award, presented by none other than director and actor Mr. Samuthirakani.

After this, with a very small crew, I made a short film based on a Thirukkural. I named it Thunbam (Sorrow). I shot and edited the film in a very short span of time.

Inspired by me, my childhood friend Sachidhanandam made his directorial debut with his short film Pattam (Kite). I handled cinematography, editing, and all the post-production work for the film.

Enadhu Moondru Mani Neram (My 3-Hour Period) is one of my best short films. Looking back, I still love it so much. It’s a science fiction story where a boy finds a time machine in his home out of nowhere — and later, we discover that it ended up there because of a time loop he himself created. I made this when I was just 14, and even now, it gives me goosebumps. I still can’t believe I shot this at such a young age.

Delve into the behind the scenes and VFX making of Enadhu Moondru Mani Neram. I did all the VFX myself, and it was such a fun learning experience. It was my first time trying out the cloning effect and green matte work. I spent hours figuring out how to match timing in clone shots and key out the green screen cleanly. It was challenging, but it made me fall in love with visual storytelling even more.
